If there’s a kind of person who fits perfectly with Caulfield Family Chiropractic it is Patient Y. Patient Y is our ideal and perfect client… the kind who we just love to have around us and it’s a pleasure to be given the chance to help enjoy their health. Patient Y is a 31 year old female is and is a school teacher. She came to us after she was fed up of suffering what she describes as:
=== “Lots of niggly little injuries for a good few years”. === (They included neck pain, headaches, teeth clenching, mid back pain and tight, painful shoulder muscles).
The symptoms have been present at a low grade for several years now, and have gradually been getting worse, prompting the patient to seek treatment.
The patient’s occupation requires extended periods of standing hunched over a desk, as well as sustained computer use, and the patient’s symptoms interfere with her work.
On examination the patient had abnormal movement of the lumbosacral, upper and mid thoracic spine and upper cervical spine. Swelling and tenderness to palpation were noted over cervical spine, particularly in the upper segments. X-ray assessment revealed significant pelvic rotation, a left sided inclination of the lumbar spine with thoracic spine compensation, a reduction of lumbar lordosis and thoracic curvature and a complete loss of cervical lordosis.
This patient began care over four weeks with a progress exam scheduled for the end of that period. At the progress exam the patient reported having no pain and a 90% reduction of symptoms overall overall. Her headaches, teeth clenching mid back and neck pain have all completely resolved. Shoulder tightness at this time has improved significantly, with only mild tightness still remaining.
This patient is now continuing care to further stabilise her spine with the addition of myotherapy to help eliminate the remaining tightness in the shoulder muscles.
